You NEED These Non-Toxic Household Items in your Life

Your home should be your sanctuary. It is the place where you can relax, where you spend the most time with your family, where you host loved ones and create new memories. Your home is where your heart is!

Our typical home products are doing more harm than good when it comes to our health. A study done by the Environmental Working Group shows the effects that chemicals and fragrance have on our health. These toxins can be found anywhere from our laundry detergent to the chemicals in our water supply. Below are my favorite household, non-toxic products that I use on a weekly if not daily basis:

1.Bluevua RO100ROPOT Reverse Osmosis System Countertop Water Filter

We use this water filter at least five times a day. It requires no plumbing or installation and fits on our counter, making it renter friendly. This is a reverse osmosis system which removes the chlorine, carbon and fluoride from the water and makes it drinkable.

Why is this important? Chemicals in our tap water are speculated to cause cancer. There has also been a link to fluoride calcifying the pineal gland in the brain causing sleep and hormonal issues.

2. Molly's Suds Original Laundry Detergent Powder

Not only does this laundry detergent work great at removing stains and odors from clothes, its non-toxic ingredient list is what makes it a staple in my house. Because of Molly Suds clean ingredient list, this makes it safe for our whole family, including our newborn baby.

Why is this important? Fragrance and synthetic dyes are common irritants as well as ingredient nightmares for your hormones. By removing these from your laundry, you are not carrying around chemicals with you all day long.

3. White Vinegar and Baking Soda

Both of these products are essential when creating a non-toxic home. They can be used in SO many ways. A little bit of white vinegar in your laundry works great as a fabric softener for towels. Baking soda on your carpets or upholstery is a great way to neutralize odor. Plus you can combine them to clean and lift away stubborn dirt and grime.

Why is this important? Like everything else, too many toxic ingredients in our fabric softeners, cleaners, and air fresheners. These are both pantry staples that most people already have (saving you some $$$)

4. Stainless Steel Pots and Pans

I’ve got good news and bad news. The bad news is that your non-stick, teflon pans are leaching cancer-causing chemicals into your food. The good news is there are alternatives to the toxic, gross, teflon! Stainless steel pans can also be made non-stick so you don’t have to worry about your food sticking to the pan. Just wait for the pan to get hot enough, splash a little water on the pan and watch the water beads dance around. That’s how you’ll know it’s ready and non-stick.

Why is this important? Teflon and non-stick pans are a relatively new addition to our world and only now are studies coming out to show that the material is actually causing cancer. Play it safe and keep your health in check by switching to stainless steel.

5. Dr Bronner’s Pure-Castille Soap

This soap is life changing. They claim to have 18-in-1 uses for this soap and I believe them! We use this for absolutely everything. Dishes, mopping, giving the dog a bath, baby soap, fruit and vegetable wash, the list really does go on. It is fragrance free and safe to use on all sorts of things.

Why is this important? This soap is free of fragrance and chemicals making it a perfect alternative to your standard soap. This soap is so versatile too so you don’t need a million products for different things. This one can do it all!
